Journey Through Mexican Culture: Luxury Art Tours & Services

Mexico is a country that has long since been praised for its vibrant cultural scene, from the likes of internationally renowned artists Frida Kahlo and Diego Riviera to the lesser-known sculptures of Geles Cabrera and the muralism of the post-revolutionary Mexican Renaissance. Against this backdrop of cultural ingenuity and often overlooked is the rich heritage of the ceramic industry, which Conte aims to highlight to you through our bespoke Mexican itineraries placing the authentic journey of the country’s traditional crafts front and centre.

Luxury Art Tours & Services: Learn More about Mexico through their Ceramics

Whilst on a luxury holiday to Mexico, one of the best ways to embody history as it lives and breathes is through the Mexican kitchen. Familiar in the downtown streets of international cities, the gastronomic heritage of Puebla de los Angeles is recognisable at the very minimum; Mole Poblano, Chiles en Nogada and Tacos Árabes are staples here and are important to the narrative of the local Talavera dinnerware. Whether following a Mexican food tour led by a chef, or visiting the studio of a local Talavera Poblano artist, Conte wants to introduce you to authentic luxury travel and an unseen side of Mexico.

Talavera pottery was created as kitchenware that populated the city of Puebla by an immigrant Spanish population hailing from a town called Talavera de la Reina in the 16th century, notably where it got its name from. Originating from the blending of indigenous, Spanish, and Moorish influences, Talavera pottery holds a special place in Mexico's artistic landscape, revered for its intricate designs featuring symbolic motifs, vivid colours, and meticulous craftsmanship.

Whilst some believe the craft belongs to the family of Majolica pottery, and others follow its roots back to ancient Chinese ceramic techniques, there is one thing for certain - the established cultural heritage that this traditional craft still exists in the Mexican household today, and is an integral part of the lived experience for many familial generations. Our bespoke itineraries reflect this through luxury art and culture tour services, whether you’re on a luxury villa holiday in Mexico, or staying in a boutique hotel. Conte truly believes that nothing is more luxurious than being able to return to places we love to explore and appreciate through a range of interests that reflect the individuality of our clients.
