TurkeyLuxury Travel: A Sample Itinerary

Days 1 - 3
A city of domes and minarets, ferry crossings and teeming streets, Istanbul is the meeting place of ancient empires and modern trade routes, and the starting point of your Turkish journey.
Your Turkish journey begins in Istanbul, a city where continents meet and centuries collide. Start your exploration with two of the city's most awe-inspiring landmarks: the Hagia Sophia, a masterpiece of Byzantine architecture turned mosque and museum, and the Blue Mosque, with its elegant minarets and cascading domes. On Day 2, step into the grandeur of Topkapi Palace, the former residence of Ottoman sultans, filled with jeweled treasures and intricate tilework. Afterward, enjoy a peaceful stroll through Gülhane Park, once the palace's royal garden. Day 3 is dedicated to the city’s bustling senses: walk through the fragrant Spice Bazaar, where mounds of saffron, sumac, and rose delight the eyes and nose. Later, cross the Bosphorus by ferry to Kadıköy, the vibrant Asian side of the city, and take in a more local rhythm with seaside cafés, bookshops, and street art.

Days 4 - 7
From vibrant rooftops in Balat to sunrise balloon journeys over Cappadocia’s eroded valleys, these middle days blend a fascination of all things beautiful with appreciation for the culture and history that run parallel to them.
On Day 4, explore the lesser-known, color-splashed backstreets of Balat, where crumbling wooden houses, Orthodox churches, and street art make for a photogenic morning. Relax afterward with a cup of tea or Turkish coffee on a rooftop, with sweeping views over Istanbul’s domes and minarets. The next day, fly to Cappadocia, a surreal landscape of wind-carved rock formations, honeycombed cliffs, and ancient cave dwellings. Rest in a boutique cave hotel, where rooms are carved directly into the rock. On Day 6, rise early for a sunrise hot air balloon ride—an unforgettable way to see the valleys bathed in golden light. Later, explore the Göreme Open-Air Museum, a UNESCO World Heritage Site filled with Byzantine-era cave churches and frescoes. On Day 7, delve deeper underground to discover Cappadocia’s subterranean cities, vast networks once used as hiding places. Then, stretch your legs with a peaceful hike through the lush Ihlara Valley, following the river past carved chapels and poplar trees.

Days 8 - 12
On Bodrum’s breezy coast, time softens with sea air and castle views before a final return to Istanbul, where private hammams warm you for one final time before the end of your journey.
Next, fly to Bodrum, a breezy Aegean town where whitewashed buildings spill down toward turquoise waters. Day 8 is for relaxation by the beach, whether with a cocktail in hand or a swim in a quiet cove. On Day 9, delve into Bodrum’s storied past with a visit to Bodrum Castle, a medieval fortress built by the Knights of St. John, now home to the Museum of Underwater Archaeology, showcasing ancient shipwrecks and maritime treasures. Day 10 brings the sea to center stage with a leisurely boat tour around the Bodrum Peninsula, stopping in hidden bays and perhaps even diving from the deck. Spend Day 11 enjoying pure beach bliss - whether lounging with a book, snorkeling, or sampling fresh seafood at a coastal taverna. Finally, return to Istanbul on Day 12, where your journey closes with a deeply relaxing and culturally immersive experience: a traditional Turkish hammam. Steam, soak, and unwind - body and soul - before a farewell meal in this timeless city.
