Patagonia Luxury Travel: A Sample Itinerary

Days 1 - 3
Your Patagonian adventure begins at the edge of the world, where the historic port of Punta Arenas serves as your gateway to one of Earth's last great wilderness frontiers.
Your first day explores Punta Arenas' town square and historic port, established in 1848 as a crucial waystation for ships navigating the treacherous Strait of Magellan before the Panama Canal's construction. Day two travels to Puerto Natales, the gateway town to Torres del Paine, where sunset views over Ultima Esperanza fjord provide dramatic introduction to Patagonian landscapes, while gear checks ensure you're prepared for the adventure ahead. Your third day enters Torres del Paine National Park, established in 1959 and declared a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, with hikes to Salto Grande waterfall and Lago Grey viewpoint, where icebergs from the Southern Patagonian Ice Field drift in milky glacial waters.

Days 4 - 7
The heart of your journey explores Torres del Paine's iconic granite spires and crosses into Argentina, where Perito Moreno Glacier demonstrates the raw power of Patagonian ice fields.
Your fourth day tackles the full-day hike to Torres Base, reaching the iconic granite towers that give the park its name, formed by magma intrusions 12 million years ago and sculpted by glacial action into their current dramatic spires. Day five offers a Lago Pehoé ferry crossing and trek into French Valley, surrounded by the Cuernos del Paine ("Horns of Paine"), or wildlife spotting for guanacos, condors, and possibly the elusive puma. The sixth day crosses the border to El Calafate, Argentina, the gateway to Los Glaciares National Park, celebrating your arrival with traditional Patagonian lamb dinner. Your seventh day visits Perito Moreno Glacier, one of the few advancing glaciers worldwide, where boardwalk views and optional ice treks reveal this 250-square-kilometer ice river that regularly calves house-sized chunks into Lago Argentino.

Days 8 - 12
Your final days explore Argentina's trekking capital and return through the vast Patagonian steppe, from Fitz Roy's jagged peaks to glacier views that conclude your end-of-the-world adventure.
Day eight features the scenic drive to El Chaltén, Argentina's trekking capital founded in 1985, surrounded by the Fitz Roy massif where granite spires challenge the world's best climbers. Your ninth day tackles the Fitz Roy trek to Laguna de los Tres, offering close-up views of the 3,405-meter peak that inspired the Patagonia clothing company logo, through landscapes of southern beech forests and alpine meadows. The tenth day provides easier hiking to Laguna Capri or Cerro Torre, allowing time to relax in this small mountain town that exists purely to serve outdoor adventurers. Day eleven returns to El Calafate through the vast Patagonian steppe, where guanacos roam endlessly under massive skies, with optional visits to Laguna Nimez nature reserve or local artisan markets. Your twelfth and final day offers breakfast with glacier views before airport transfer, concluding your journey through landscapes that remain largely unchanged since Charles Darwin's visit aboard the Beagle in 1834.
